You are cordially invited to join
The Bazelon Society
What Is the Bazelon Society?
The Bazelon Society is a special group of dedicated men and women who share
the Bazelon Center's belief in the civil rights and human dignity of people
with mental disabilities. Its members are a diverse group with a common passion
for justice and equality. Like you, they believe that people with mental illnesses
or mental retardation deserve adequate health care and rehabilitation services,
decent housing, sufficient income, and an opportunity to live free of stigma,
stereotype and discrimination.
What Do the Bazelon Society's Members
Do?
Bazelon Society members make significant annual financial contributions to
assure the Bazelon Center of the flexibility necessary to advance and defend
the rights of people with mental disabilities. Their annual gifts allow the
center's lawyers and policy staff to respond quickly and effectively to changing
legislative initiatives and to the sudden demands of precedent-setting litigation,
especially at the appellate level.
Many members of the Bazelon Society also help us leverage other funding grants
and corporate support for important programmatic initiatives.
All members receive certificates of appreciation, Bazelon Center Action Alerts
and Legislative Updates, complimentary copies of Bazelon Center publications
and tickets to special events hosted by the Bazelon Center. Past events have
included briefings, symposia and luncheons honoring members of Congress and
the Administration for their work on behalf of people with mental disabilities.
