Child Welfare

The Bazelon Center is committed to reducing the number of children with mental or emotional disorders who fall through the cracks in America's child welfare systems.

Our work in the landmark child welfare case, R.C. v. Hornsby, is documented in the Bazelon Center publication Making Child Welfare Work. The book details how a legal settlement in Alabama produced a system of care for children with or at risk of emotional disorders and has created a new model for child welfare systems that is now being emulated in states across the country.
