Karen Smith has provided administrative support to the executive director, policy director and the policy staff for the past 10 years. She also serves as the Bazelon Iiaison for Green Door, a program for which the Center has a supported employment position, and coordinates the work environment for Bazelon Center interns. Previously, she was a senior administrative assistant at the U.S. Department of Agriculture for 25 years and in the Parks and Recreation Department of the District of Columbia for 9 years, working with people who have disabilities.
Karen also volunteers with the Foster and Adoptive Parent Advocacy Center (FAPAC), whose primary goal is advocating for the children in the city’s foster care system. Her passion is cooking.
