Truly Diversifying the Federal Bench

Many indicators of diversity -- such as race, ethnicity, gender, and sexual orientation -- are now rightly considered in nominating individuals to the federal bench. However, to truly diversify the federal bench and make it representative of the people it serves, disability must also be a central consideration. The Bazelon Center for Mental Health Law and its allied organizations advocate for greater diversity on the federal bench in terms of judges with disabilities.
